Privacy Policy

SysPad is a free, personal hobby project: a browser-based tool for designing and simulating cloud architectures. It is built to keep your work on your own device. This page explains exactly what is and isn't collected.

In short: your diagrams stay in your browser until you choose to share one, we don't ask you to sign in, and the only data collected is privacy-friendly, anonymous, aggregate usage analytics: no cookies, no personal information, no selling of data.

Your diagrams stay on your device while you work on them

Everything you build is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so your work survives a reload. While you are designing, nothing about the diagram is sent anywhere: the canvas, the configuration and the simulation all run on your machine. Importing or exporting a .syspad.json file is a local file operation. Clearing your browser data removes your saved diagrams.

Sharing is the one deliberate exception

Copy link packs the whole diagram, compressed, into the link itself, so the link is the diagram rather than a pointer to a copy of it we keep. Pressing that button is you deciding to publish that diagram, and from then on it travels wherever you send the link: a chat, an email, an issue, a document. Anyone holding the link holds the diagram, and we have no way to recall one.

Today the payload rides in the part of the URL after the #, which browsers do not send to a server, so a shared link does not reach us. That may change. If share links are reworked so that a pasted link can show a preview of the diagram, the server drawing that preview will see the diagram it is drawing, and this page will say so before that ships. The rule stays the same either way: nothing you build is transmitted unless you choose to share it.

Accounts

The current version has no sign-in and no user accounts, so we do not collect names, emails, or any personal profile data. If account features are added in future, this policy will be updated before they go live.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the tool is used. It is privacy-first:

Cookieless: it does not set cookies or use persistent identifiers.
Anonymous & aggregate: page views, referrer, country, and device/browser type, plus anonymous counts of in-app actions. No data that identifies you personally.
No cross-site tracking and no sale or sharing of data.

Hosting & third parties

SysPad is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard request data (such as IP address) to serve the site and provide analytics, as described in Vercel's privacy documentation. Any third-party services shown inside example diagrams are illustrative and are not contacted by this site.

Your choices

Block analytics with your browser's tracking protection or a privacy blocker.
Remove all saved diagrams by clearing this site's browser storage.
Don't want a diagram to leave your machine at all? Don't share a link. Export it as a .syspad.json file instead, which is a plain download.

If instead you have found a number in the tool that looks wrong, the same address is the place for it. Press Copy link in SysPad first and paste that link into the mail: it carries the whole diagram, so the exact thing you were looking at can be reopened and checked.

There is not much personal data to ask about in the first place: no sign-in, no accounts, and nothing about a diagram is sent anywhere unless you share it.
